Professor Muhammad Ali Imran

MSc and PhD from Imperial College London, Head of the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow, and an internationally recognized leader in energy-efficient and self-organizing communication networks. An IEEE Fellow and Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, he has led major UK and international 5G and 6G research programs, advising government, industry, and international bodies on future telecom policy. He has published over 600 papers, holds multiple patents, and has founded several technology start-ups. Through senior leadership roles, he shapes large-scale research initiatives, transnational education partnerships, and global collaborations across Europe, Asia, and North America.
He has also served in major international conference leadership roles, including TPC Chair of IEEE WCNC 2023 in Glasgow and Executive Co-Chair for IEEE ICC 2026.
